MAREE GILES - ‘Life Writing’ MASTERCLASS

Is there a true story that only you can tell?

This Masterclass is designed to provide you with the skills you need to turn experiences, recollections and real-life phenomena into literary works that are enjoyable and accessible to a wider audience.  'Life Writing' is non-fiction prose devoted to exploring the events and emotions of real lives.

Participants should write a brief description of two events from their own life and bring them to the Masterclass.   From these you will choose one to write about during the Masterclass.

Maree Giles, an award winning author, journalist, Royal Literary Fund Fellow and creative writing tutor, moved to SW France in 2013.
Since Maree spoke about her book Invisible Thread based on her own astonishing story at last years Festival, there has been a Royal Commission Inquiry held in Sydney into events at Parramatta Girls Home and the Hay Institution for Girls, both of which are the focus of Invisible Thread.   Following the enormous media and public attention Hachette Australia are republishing Invisible Thread this year.    Maree Giles is also in discussion with producers to make a film based on her story.
