Martin Walker : THE DEVIL’S CAVE, just came out this month!

Martin Walker's fifth book in his acclaimed 'Bruno' detective series, The Devil's Cave, has just been published to excellent reviews. Don't miss his talk on Saturday 12 October at 17h in the library. Below are links to a recent interview with Martin Walker and also to his 'Bruno' website where you can read reviews of The Devil's Cave and find out more about his well known and much loved policeman 'Bruno'.

Martin Walker is a British author, historian and prize-winning journalist whose series of seven detective novels are set in la France profonde of Perigord. He divides his time between the region and Washington DC. Equally popular in English and in their French translations, his books are as noted for the rich, evocative backdrop of local life and the lovability of his central character Bruno as they are for the stories themselves. Bruno is deeply rooted in the Perigord countryside, as are his passions and pastimes – hunting, cooking, gardening, eating – but his maverick approach to crime and justice at times pitches him against the hierarchy. Over a million copies of the ‘Bruno’ books have been sold and they have now been translated into 15 languages including Japanese and Turkish.   Martin will talk about why France is such a fertile hunting ground for authors and will discuss the inspirations for his characterisation of Bruno and for the plots of his novels.
